The Fingerpost

AKA The Royal Oak, this sits handily alongside the Canal at the north end of Pelsall. It was the Royal Oak for years, until a previous landlord met a nasty end after a robbery. It was refurbished and relaunched as The Fingerpost, at first pitching itself a little high for the locality, but now represents a fairly OK chain pub with Ok food and beer and a great canalside patio for the summer.
[edit]
It’s also free from 2010 World Cup Football. That’s worth a few points…

This pub is brilliant, great food, great beer and the staff are very proffesional. We were treated like guests in someones house when we went in. The food is fresh and good quality! It is not a chain pub as the above suggests but a well run pub with a good team of staff and a focus on the basics of running a good pub…brill food, beer and service. You have to try this pub out and realise, this is how pubs should be run! There is also a good outside decking area for when we have those sunny days.

I’ve been very impressed with the staff, yes- friendly and helpful. Not eaten there for some time.
I reckon you might be misunderstanding ‘chain’. I don’t mean it’s a TableTable or Wetherspoons, but more with a menu that looks a bit like others and the standard Pubco beers. Do you know who owns it?
To be fair, there’s a good selection of decent beer, and the food looks pretty good and seems good value. It’s a nice pub, with a good location and (as you say) good outside space- I like the place, and it is very well run. It’s the 2nd best pub in Pelsall, behind The Railway IMO- but The Railway has been a favourite of mine for 20 years.
You don’t happen to work there do you?
