It&#8217;s BSD underneath, for a start, so you can ssh into it. And it *is* easy to configure (I&#8217;ve never used Crapple systems before, but sorted out remote admin and folder\/file permissions in about 5 minutes, once I went and turned on VNC, as Crapple don&#8217;t offer a windoze client for the default remote desktop).<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1107\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1107\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.piglet-net.net\/pigblog\/images\/\/crapple.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.piglet-net.net\/pigblog\/images\/\/crapple-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"OSX Server\" title=\"crapple\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-1107\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1107\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">OSX Server<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>It&#8217;s a pity about the users, the polo-neck wearing media types who can <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net\/c.cgi?u=macs_cant\">never shut up<\/a> about how easy things are. The reason it *seems* easy is all the complexity is hidden, and then when you need it, you can&#8217;t find it.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a pity about the &#8216;form over function&#8217;, and it&#8217;s a pity about the inflated price. The machines are very well built, and the OS does work, but there&#8217;s nothing you couldn&#8217;t do with Windoze or Linux.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So, for my next venture into crap OSs, it was OSX server.
