The TV smashing that just results in a new TV until you do it 3 times, then you just have to *contribute* to the cost. The hairdressers. The (optional!) paid work. The shops. The larking about.<\/p>\n
Prison is meant to be a punishment. Prison costs the taxpayer money. Why are prisoners not made to work, with the work being something to benefit society? Picking up litter, cleaning graffiti, any jobs that no-one really wants to do?<\/p>\n
Plenty of people innocent of any crime have a lower quality of life than these prisoners. How is that right?<\/p>\n
