{"id":1229,"date":"2009-08-16T13:20:12","date_gmt":"2009-08-16T12:20:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.piglet-net.net\/pigblog\/?p=1229"},"modified":"2009-08-16T13:23:46","modified_gmt":"2009-08-16T12:23:46","slug":"a-walk-out","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.piglet-net.net\/pigblog\/?p=1229","title":{"rendered":"A Walk Out"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;ve not been out for a walk for a while, with the recent weather, so it made a nice change to get out yesterday, up the canal to Chasewater.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Chasewater\"><br \/>\nChasewater<\/a> is an odd place. It&#8217;s practically in Brownhills, but is controlled by Lichfield council. It&#8217;s original function was a canal reservior- indeed the Anglesey Branch canal was at first just a feeder channel, but now it&#8217;s home to watersports, a heritage railway, a park\/nature reserve, and a small play area, as well as some small industrial units- one of which contains <a href=\"http:\/\/beowulfbrewery.co.uk\/default.aspx\">Beowulf Brewery<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The walk up what was the W+E mainline, but is now a dead end (until <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lhcrt.org.uk\/index.htm\">LHCRT<\/a> restore the canal from <a href=\"http:\/\/canalplan.eu\/place\/g0rc?session=FY22427\">Ogley Junction)<\/a> and then onwards up the Anglesey Branch canal shows just how much Brownhills really is on the edge of the conurbation: as you pass under <a href=\"http:\/\/canalplan.eu\/place\/t0if\">Anchor Bridge<\/a> the right-hand side becomes fields for a while, so it makes for a nice walk out.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re a bit out of shape, so the return journey was by bus&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;ve not been out for a walk for a while, with the recent weather, so it made a nice change to get out yesterday, up the canal to Chasewater.
