We&#8217;ll leave the analogue\/vinyl (warmth) argument for another time.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20150721021921\/http:\/\/people.xiph.org\/~xiphmont\/demo\/neil-young.html\">24\/192 Music Downloads&#8230;and why they make no sense<\/a><\/p>\n<p>presents the argument well, and scientifically, and I found the authors comments on MP3 codecs and on Loudness Wars fascinating. 24\/192 is being touted as audiophile quality downloadable music.<\/p>\n<p>One must remember that the audio world is prone to bollocks: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Denon-AKDL1-Dedicated-Link-Cable\/dp\/B000I1X6PM\">\u00a3500 cat 5 leads<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.russandrews.com\/\">audiophile mains cables and sockets<\/a>, but also that some people can&#8217;t hear quite significant audio problems: it&#8217;s subjective- I know people that would not consider the difference between a \u00a330 mini system and \u00a3600 of seperates significant.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, I claimed that FLAC wasn&#8217;t practical in the comments on Come the Revolution, and have proved myself wrong: A Sandisk Sansa MP3 player will happily handle <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Flac\">FLAC<\/a>, and a big Micro-SD card copes with the filesizes.
