{"id":446,"date":"2005-07-03T20:40:25","date_gmt":"2005-07-03T19:40:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.piglet-net.net\/pigblog\/?p=446"},"modified":"2022-11-01T20:29:28","modified_gmt":"2022-11-01T20:29:28","slug":"wandering-in-willenhall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.piglet-net.net\/pigblog\/?p=446","title":{"rendered":"Wandering in Willenhall"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last night we fancied a change, so we went to <a href=\"https:\/\/maps.google.co.uk\/maps?q=Willenhall,+West+Midlands,+WV13&#038;spn=0.013947,0.034165&#038;hl=en\">Willenhall<\/a> for a few beers, and a very nice Chinese meal for a very nice low price.<br \/>\nWe were going to invite AndyM along, but by the time I remembered, it was too late. Anyway, border control let us over <a href=\"https:\/\/maps.google.co.uk\/maps?q=Willenhall,+West+Midlands,+WV13&#038;ll=52.586363,-2.011700&#038;spn=0.013946,0.034165&#038;hl=en\">M6 J10<\/a> (we walked from Walsall town centre) without a local in tow, so that was OK. Willenhall is surprisingly full of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shercliff.demon.co.uk\/WHS\/malthouse.htm\">nice buildings<\/a> (like many places it seems to have had the Victorian and 1930s booms), and has some decent pubs, but it&#8217;s run down in places (I don&#8217;t think the boom times ever came back&#8230;.). It does mean that nowhere charges &#8216;premium&#8217; (i.e: rip-off) prices though.<br \/>\nInterestingly, the Malthouse (link above) gets a mention <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chavtowns.co.uk\/modules.php?name=News&#038;file=article&#038;sid=911\">here<\/a>, which is less than complimentary about the whole WV13 area&#8230; I don&#8217;t think that&#8217;s fair, but I <em>do<\/em> know now why the 529 (the very frequent bus service between Walsall &#038; Wolverhampton, which passes though) is known as the &#8216;chav express&#8217;.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last night we fancied a change, so we went to Willenhall for a few beers, and a very nice Chinese meal for a very nice low price.
