Yesterday, I went into my local Morrisons supermarket.Among other things I bought some ibuprofen tablets. I picked up 48 tablets- 3 packets of 16, to be precise, so that I don’t have to remember to buy them for a while, and so I have a packet to keep at work. I actually bought 32, because the checkout girl said she couldn’t sell 48 to me. This is, of course, correct, unless she wanted to break UK law.<\/p>\n
Damn. Like I said, “I was just planning to top myself too”.<\/p>\n
The thing is, if I was determined to kill myself with painkillers, I could just visit x supermarkets, or 1 x times, or visit 1 once, and use x checkouts,, obtain sufficient pills, and go home and do it. The only effect the law has is to make it very slightly more inconvenient to do so, and having reached that state of mind, I’d imagine the slight inconvenience wouldn’t deter anyone.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
