Whitby:
For some reason, this place didn’t click. There wasn’t anything actually wrong with it, but it wasn’t exceptional either. There was some cask ale and decent cider, and the barman was friendly enough, but there wasn’t much atmosphere.

Pleasant, two-room, quiet pub with cask ale, choice of snacks and friendly staff, and handily on the way back to our holiday flat, and nicer than the Middle Earth. On one of our later visits a folk club was playing- they didn’t mind our presence and we got free music.

A very pleasant pub near Whitby’s centre. Choice of cask ale, excellent choice of snacks, great staff. This was one of our favourites in a town full of good pubs.

An agreeable enough pub: were it not that so many others were better this would have become a regular for the week. No food, but a couple of cask ales, friendly staff, TV on, but not showing football and not loud.
