Revisit: The Cob and Pen

Rhyl.

Whatpub Entry

A few days away took us back to Rhyl, and the fact that everywhere in the town centre was packed took us back to The Cob & Pen.

This was the right decision. It’s still a great pub. There’s still great beer, and friendly, helpful, efficient staff, and great food (at lunchtime, for now). Additionally, the covid-19 precautions are both sensible and comprehensive, without ruining the experience.

The Swan Inn

Rhyl:

Old pub, but evidently refurbed over the years. Lounge wood panelled, and felt like a between-the-wars refurb, but it’s evidently been tidied up in recent years, but not ruined. There’s still lots of little corners rather than a cavernous space. Music at decent volume, good beer, friendly staff, and a pleasant place to sit for a few hours.
