Just about a pub. You can order at the bar, it’s styled like an English pub.
No cask, obviously. No food, live music at times, English tourists.
The York
Corralejo, Fuerteventura, Canary islands:
Now, no doubt here. This is a pub. You order at the bar and pay, then you sit down with your drink.
Nice friendly English barman- rumoured to be from York, hence the name, but his accent sounded very Midlands to me. Nice atmosphere- music TV on but not loud, relaxed vibe. No cask, obviously, but I was drinking spirits anyway. Shame we discovered this late in our holiday.
Waterfall

Describes itself as a beer hall, and I’m stretching “pub” here, but it deserves entry for being the only place I found selling beer, as opposed to lager. No cask, but a good selection of keg and bottle from around the world; I had a Canarian IPA and a Oktoberfest beer.
Situated in the old town, in a square with other bars and restaurants. Pleasant staff, nice place to sit and drink, but not cheap: my 500ml IPA was 8 euro.
Murphy’s Bar

Foreign bars are always problematic: they’re not, well, pubs, are they?
We decided this met the description of pub. You order at the bar, like in a pub. The atmosphere was pub-like. Best of all, opposite our hotel.
Really friendly barman, from Dunfermline. Decent prices, and the first place we found that had diet tonic water, accompanied by traditionally large vodka measures. No ale, obviously. Live music from the charming Liam from Co. Clare, ROI. We found ourselves returning on several occaisions.
