Old Town, Eastbourne, Sussex:
Traditional building for the area- flint walls- it is Grade 2 listed. Inside is a bit stripped-out, and some presumably original beams are painted, which jarred a bit: it’s from the modern gastropub playbook of decor; all very smart and clean but a little soulless.
We didn’t take to this, though there was little to dislike, really. The staff were great, the outside space was nice before the rain arrived, we got a seat by the stove on a bright but cool day.
Also on offer, but we didn’t try it, nor the food.
