Teignmouth:
Very close to the seafront and close to the station, a pleasant, traditional pub. 2 ales on offer, in decent condition. Pretty quiet when we visited, but I suspect that was due to timing. Nice staff, friendly locals.

The Cellars Bar

As the name suggests, a basement pub near the seafront, and co-incidentally very near to the first place we stayed on holiday together, many years ago. We didn’t drink anything like as much then, so couldn’t remember if the pub was there back then. Inside felt a bit dark after the bright sun, but there’s a nice terrace to sit on in the sun, and they had Proper Job on and in fine condition, and outside you could hear the live music (which was OK) and still talk comfortably.
The Devon Arms

A hotel, but the bar felt like a pub, as did the beer garden. We finally got some lunch 🙂 – they were stopping lunch service, but did us a sandwich, which was nice. Traditional, olde-worlde-ish interior, extensive and comfortable beer garden, great, friendly staff, and good beer and food.
The Blue Anchor

Lovely pub back in the town, with a great choice of real ale, including something hoppy (I was getting tired of “ordinary” bitters), and outside seating in the sunshine. Sadly most of the food had gone, so we only stopped for one drink: I’d have like to stop longer. Friendly staff, too.
The Brass Monkey

Not far from the station, and very close to the ‘spoons, but we fancied a proper pub, and got it. The friendly landlord explained they didn’t do food anymore, as the ‘spoons was too much competition. Inside was traditional, and pleasant, with decent ale, and it had a laid-back feel- though this was Sunday lunchtime. A few more customers turned up just after, so hopefully this place will survive as an alternative.
