Bolton-le-Sands:
Pub in what feels like the old village centre, back off from the A6, a short distance over the canal.
Quirky yet traditional. Friendly staff and locals. We tried a local cask ale, and it was off, but changed without quibble, and was then excellent.
Bolton-le-Sands;
Hotel on the A6. It’s a bit more pub with rooms than hotel, though the “wait for a member of staff” sign that we ignored makes it a bit less pubby. Nice place for lunch, decent cask ale, nice staff.
Car park is the wrong side of the A6, which could prove interesting….
Lancaster:
What a lovely riverside pub. We had tried to visit this before, but it was closed after flooding, years ago.
Traditional inside. Great beer choice including cask and decent lager, really friendly, helpful barman. Free video games!
Lancaster:
A pub with rooms down by the river. It’s a Robinsons house, traditional but tidy and bright inside. Pleasant staff. Decent layout, good ale. Could do without the scatter cushions though!
Morecambe:
Another pub we’ve somehow missed. Big- one room, but with loads of little corners. The ceiling here is very low in places- at 6′ 3″ it was a struggle moving about. TVs everywhere, but thankfully muted. Friendly barman, decent cask ale.
Morecambe:
One we’d walked past before and not been in. Pleasant enough pub just off the seafront, with pleasant barmaid and decent lager on offer. No cask ale.
Probably much busier at night with music, we just sat and had a quiet drink. It’s one room, but two areas.
Arnside.
Unlike The Albion just up the way, which was unchanged, this had had a refurb from very traditional to a bit more modern. Decent beer, friendly staff.
Lancaster, specifically Lancaster Station:
We were catching a train, and had a spare half hour. No alcohol, as it was still AM.

A new venture on the platform from Lancaster Brewery. Very pleasant barman, nice atmosphere, good beer selection. We’d hoped to drop in later for a proper drink but our connection was tighter.
Connected to The Sun Hotel & Bar and The Duke of Edinburgh.
Morecambe.
The Royal has been refurbished again, and slightly renamed, presumably to reference the cocktails which now are figuring prominently.
Outside has had some paint, inside has seen the raised area by the window removed (much to my better half’s annoyance- you can’t see the view now), and a fuckton of artificial plants and some exposed cable tray (just like an eighties Pizza Hut) fitted. Thankfully, the original tiling survives.
Lovely staff (2 young chaps), decent music (80s revival FTW), beer was fine, but even though it’s smarter, it doesn’t feel right.
Morecambe:
Next to the football stadium, so probably well known to Mikee Evans and Jane Stuart, we were at the stadium as it was the hub of a historic bus event, and dropped in for a pint, without high expectations.
Actually, it wasn’t bad. yes, it’s a standard Marstons feedbag pub, yes, there were kids about, but it’s a big site with lots of space in and out (sadly, the outside is astroturf), so it wasn’t an unpleasant place to sit for a while and ruminate on Tyson Fury’s house, almost next door.
