The price of carelessness

I’d always known mobile phones were expensive to buy sim-free (i.e: without a contract) as the contract subsidises the handset cost. This has been brought home to me recently by the fact that someone in Malaysia is now using my Nokia 6820- because I lost it. I got the SIM stopped, so at least my account is safe, but the phone that cost me about 40 quid will cost a lot more to replace. The best possibility so far seems to be a Sony-Erricson T610, as I want bluetooth, small size, and tri-band (that way if I go to the US I can lose it there!). I don’t want a camera, but it seems you just can’t not have one if you want the other features. The best offer I can find for that is about 80 quid (for a new one), which, trust me, is a bargain. Some of the latest phones will cost you £300-400 to replace. For a bloody phone. Meanwhile if anyone has a T610 in decent nick they don’t want, get in touch.
