No, It can’t be that easy
I’ve upgraded wordpress– the thing that generates this site from a MySQL database and some PHP whizzy bits. It took about 5 commands, and one visit to a config page.
THAT’S TOO EASY!. It makes installing software on windows look hard.

Does the N stant for ‘no’ in npower? The site was down again today, thanks to power loss. I’ve reset the bios to boot after power is restored, so provided the fsck completes OK the machine will come back on it’s own next time.

Raw Power
No, not the 90s TV Rock show. piglet.no-ip.org has had a bit of an upgrade and now boasts (gasp) a PII 400Mhz and nearly 400MB of RAM.
This being Debian GNU/Linux all it took was to swap the HDD into the completely new machine (that handily also had a 3C905 card) and up it all came. The site will be (and is) a little quicker.

Downtime
Just to note that piglet.no-ip.org will be down for a while from sometime this Saturday, as I’ll be shutting down the (pentium 1 150Mhz) server for about a week. Sorry if you miss it (Yeah, right!). I’ll be putting a placeholder redirect in place until the site is back, so links to the blog homepage will still work.
