I’ve just been listening to Jackyl. They’re a rock band from the deep south US, who play chainsaws.
YES. Chainsaws. They have now made a chainsaw guitar.
I first heard them on whatever rock show it was that used to be on ITV in the early hours in the mid-90’s. They’re a bit of an acquired taste, with such delightful ditties as ‘She Loves My Cock’, but they sound like AC/DC,- from Dixie. Presumably they come from a farming community, and that’s why they’re so concerned about poultry.
[BTW, I wouldn’t follow the fansite links from the Jackyl site, unless you were looking for pr0n. And I know that no-one surfing the net is looking for porn.]
This one crept under SpamAssassin’s radar tonight, and I’m almost pleased: The original message is in italics, my thoughts in bold text.

I’m sitting surfing the web in front of the TV. (oh the joys of a LAN and IPCop).
There’s just been an advert for the current Renault Megane. Damn that’s ugly. It shares at least one characteristic with the Fiat Multipla. I can see the scene now.
Car designer wanders around warehouse, picking up parts at random, and hands them to a bloke with a welder, who joins them together where they touch. To be fair though, the Multipla takes the prize. I mean, do they pay you to drive it?
A colleague had a lyric quiz the other day. Unfortunately, someone recognised a short excerpt from ‘Tiger Feet’ by Mud, and now i have the chorus stuck in my head. (Please make the bad thoughts go away).
This does however remind me of the daft dance they did on Top Of The Pops (I’m old enough to remember). I’d love a dowloadable video clip if anyone can find one, though I think I’ll turn the sound off :-/
‘Lucky that my breasts are small and humble, so you don’t confuse them with mountains’
I’ve been listening to Shakira. I like the record ‘Whenever, Wherever’, despite not being a fan of pop music as a rule, but I can’t help thinking something got lost in translastion.
[shame]What really gets me is I’ve just admitted to liking a Shakira record .{/shame]
What on earth happens here in the UK at the slightest sign of a flake of snow?
We’ve had a slight snowfall today: About 1.5 inches or so, and it’s been cold. Not proper cold though. Just what we soft English townie nancy-boys call cold- say -2 or -3 degrees centigrade.
Chaos ensues. I get off quite lightly- It takes me about twice as long as usual to get home. My dear better half fares less well though. Her usual 25min journey becomes 2.25 hours. Thats 7 miles on main road in the West Midlands urban area, not 150 miles in the Scottish highlands.
The people of Finland will be laughing their various sexual organs off. As will, in fact, a lot of the world.
Someone please explain it.
I’ve been to Chicago in December- about -19 degrees C, and a good foot of snow. EVERYTHING KEEPS GOING!!!!!. Why do we cope so badly?
I notice that there’s yet another windows worm doing the rounds. This one isn’t that clever, but then again, neither are the people that have opened it.
I’ve seen an example : to get infected you had to open a suspicious-looking email from someone, open the zip attached to it, and then open the (executable) file included. the other way it spreads is through the kazaa piracy P2P network.
Once again, this worm only spreads vai email if you use one of Microsoft’s hopeless email clients.
Full details here.
The only thing is, this worm has a redeeming feature in that it does a denial-of-service attack on SCO’s website. :-).
I’ve just read in that paradigm of journalism, the Mirror, that a Glock fully-auto pistol has been siezed in the UK. This gun shoots bullets at some phenomenal rate.
A Police spokesman was quoted as saying it was like ‘turning on a high-pressure hose’.
Wow.
I’d hate to be nearby when he washes his car.
While settling down in my metaphorical glass house tonight, I came across Chris Lightfoot’s pages on the web. Chris has written a really cool piece of software called driftnet, which I can’t help but think might be entertaining on the piece of ethernet leaving a typical public computer facility, say with something subtle like a 42″ plasma screen ;-).
He’s also listed some great web design tips that a suprising amount of people seem to have followed.
Like I’m in any place to throw stones, given my crappy web ‘design’ and default CSS for this blog.
