Thursday saw me working in Cardiff, moving servers, network, and UPS equipment between floors of an office as someone had seen fit to site it all in an office a few years ago: as Cat5 can’t be joined, a small cabinet (and the router and NTEs) had to stay behind, with a small link cabinet where everything is cross-patched.
Made for a longer than normal, but successful day: we were 9-5 onsite, plus the travelling and unloading kit. Traffic was not too bad, but the closure of M4 J30 eastbound slip was a bit frustrating.
Thanks for reminding me what I don’t miss any more. I’m just glad there are people still willing to travel this country for their job of work. If it was left to me we’d revert back to never leaving the village and only taking the cart to the next village when there was a wedding or something.
The thought of taking on hundreds of miles of traffic doesn’t appeal to me in the slightest any more. Born too late me, or too early, possibly.
Fortunately, travelling about for work is the exception, not the rule. Only a few times a year, usually.
