I read a bit of one of the local papers today and it seems my home town has been considered ‘top chav town‘, which is scary but not that surprising, if I’m honest. There’s a write up (heavily quoted by the newspaper) here that’s pretty amusing.

It’s a bit of a onesided view though. Walsall does have decent pubs, good restaurants, and (gasp) intelligent citizens*- but you won’t find them vomiting into the gutter outside the Hogshead at 2am. Walsall went from having no pubs of the ‘alcopop and on the pull’ type pubs about 10 years ago to a veritable explosion of them. The whole Leicester St area is a chav-spotters dream, if your dreams are very disturbing.

*No, really. There are some. Honest.
