Yesterday, on my regular cycle route around Brownhills, I’d noticed a new, handmade sign on part of NCN5 where it crosses Slough Railway Bridge. This was in addition to this bit of graffiti on the anti-motorbike gate:

It reads “GOV=LIARS/MURDERERS #NOVAC”. Up above, on NCN5 is this:

“THERE IS NO VIRUS #FAKEVIRUS #NOVACCINE #NOVAX #FAKEVIRUS”.

Now, the first photo you can maybe agree with. Our Government lies to us daily, people have died (though whether it is pre-meditated is open for discussion). Fair enough, then it all goes a bit conspiracy theorist with photo 2.

You can maybe see why this has gained traction with some sectors of society. Popular fiction has used this plot device or a variant of it several times: V for Vendetta used it and has some quite disturbing echoes in the story if we look at today; a rise of the right, increased police and government powers, a virus crippling Europe, so you could perhaps make that connection and decide that Covid was launched either deliberately or accidentally from bio-research, and is being used to control us, plain and simple: force us to stay in, force us to accept losses of liberty, condition us to accept the Government’s say so.

It’s bollocks of course, until you consider 5G, which is of course, the real villain:

I love conspiracy theorists. Them and Freemen on the Land provide endless LOLs. This is of course the point where any reading this will say that I need to wake up, that I’m a sheep, and that I need to “do some research”, at which point they’ll send a youtube video from some swivel-eyed crackpot, or a blog that will have lots of ALLCAPS.

The 5G lamp bloke is just ridiculous, and kind of amusing if you have any technical knowledge, as is this one (For the record, and for the non-techies, the PCB in the video is driver circuitry for the lamp).

The chemtrail lot are pretty good fun, if you point out to them that there’s a myriad of cheaper, easier, and more effective ways to drug the population than chucking stuff out of a plane.

There, of course is the problem. Most of the conspiracy theories, be it moon landings or that the WTC attacks were a false flag, Coronavirus or 5G weaponised bats, by the time you’ve paid off, eliminated, or coerced all the people you’d need to to keep it quiet, you could have achieved whatever it was the supposed motive was easier by other means.

Also, as it’s Johnson’s government, never mistake sheer incompetence for malice. Don’t get me wrong, they’re evil and would happily do pretty much anything to keep power and to line their mates’ pockets, but inventing a virus probably isn’t the best way to do that, but then, conspiracy theorists are cultish: (that’s cuLtish) – facts are not important, belief is.

As to the sign maker, I’m fascinated. I suppose the bridge carries a fair amount of traffic, so the sign will get seen. Quite neatly done, too.
