A long weekend presented the opportunity for a bit of a return to old entertainment. First of all, a 16:30 finish on a Thursday with zero commute time means with a bit of help from a taxi we made it to Summerisle Pelsall and The Queens by 5pm, to make our table booking in a surprisingly crowded Mogul Palace by 6. One excellent curry later, we’re on a bus back to civilisation, or at least Shelfield. A drink or two with family members, and back home.
Friday saw us off to Rugeley, again using the train line we used for Hednesford in better times. A few nice pubs (and one grotty one…), and a little sit in Elmore Park.
Saturday and Sunday passed by like normal: I met a mate for beer, we drank a little too much.
Monday saw me at the QE to have needles poked in me and mild electric shocks, carried out with the typical efficiency of that institution: an example of how the NHS can work so well. With that done (with a big thanks my chauffeur), I fitted in a very short bike ride- necessarily short, these days- and we managed to do something day-off-like, with tea at the pub, and now, it’s late on virtual Sunday, and I have to be reasonably coherent tomorrow 🙁 .
