In one of tonights freesheets, there was a story about Councillor Bob Piper
from the neighbouring beauty spot of Sandwell, describing Walsall as ‘grotty’.

A Phrase involving pots, kettles, and relative darkness of colour spring to mind, as does one involving residing in a glass domicile- especially given the comments here. I notice the post on Dec 12 has now been removed from the blog, but thanks to the magic of the interweb, you can find a google cache here ( do a ‘find in this page’ on ‘Pretentious’).

I was looking forward to the comments, too…… The basic upshot was taking the piss out of this story, which seems like a fair target given the usual clientele around that corner of town, but it might hold more water from soeone representing somewhere less grotty than Walsall.

Walsall isn’t that bad. It’s not what I’d call a pretty place, but if anyone can prove to me Sandwell is more asthetically pleasing, I’ll be surprised.
