I had a quick look at LeeW‘s blog today, and had a bit of a reda about his Sky-by-broadband experiences: here is his post on the subject, and here’s the article he found after a bit of googling. For anyone not wanting to read the details, if you install Sky’s PC movie-download software, it installs a service on your windoze PC that basically shares what you’ve downloaded with others (like Kazaa does). What this means is that Sky save on their internet bandwidth and server hardware, but use yours instead. They do tell you, but only in the EULA that you never read.

Now, Lee is a fellow techy, as is the bloke that wrote the article, but there’s plenty of gadget freaks that aren’t sysadmins that might wonder where their connection speed has gone…….
