We’ve spent a bit of today looking after our 5 year old nephews while Mom & Dad were Christmas Shopping. They were actually very (well, actually, incredibly) well behaved, but I still don’t know how parents manage it: Our only transgression: telling the BMW driver who somehow failed to see the bright fucking yellow Lupo (I’ve followed it down the M5, and trust me, it’s visible for about half a mile) to fuck off, as he didn’t understand the concept of a queue (big surpise there: a tosser in a BMW). Ooops. We did shopping, and even visited a couple of child-friendly pubs, and had a short walk along the canal, and I discovered just what a fat old knacker I am by trying to chase 2 five-year-olds around a play area.

The tears are still rolling down my cheeks.
Got a ten and seven year old waiting to be tired out if you’re doing nothing tomorrow “Daddy Day Care” 🙂
Funniest blog entry for ages! Did the tin-lids understand the BMW rant? I couldn’t stop larfing at that!! 🙂
MarkyB: That’s the trouble *they* weren’t tired, *I* was.
Bumpkin Boy: I think they understood. Probably heard it all before from either Mom or Dad.
Oh, and the thing was, it was a simultaneous expletive from both of us.
welcome to my world, 4 and 10
i have the pleasure of convincing one he will still get presents, now he knows the real santa story, while trying to get the other to make a santa list from cut up argos books
not too mention the school run, the school xmas play and cubs
There are worse worlds to come 😉
At least when they’re teenagers they’re happy with IT stuff and choosing pressies isn’t difficult. Even if it is vastly more expensive than Lego (but only just).
Previous convictions:
g12,b14,b25 and g27. And three grandchildren that like to pull DVDs off the shelves, drop food off their plates and immediately tread it into the carpet, and point at things on TFT monitors by pushing their fingers through the screen.
On the other hand the world of your average 7 year old is more about Meccano than the morality of “Medal of Honour” at least it was last night. Its much more fun – pity it ends…….
