Today I had to go to Send (or very nearby) on business. Driving down was easy: an earlyish start, M6Toll, M42, M40, M25, A3: just over 2.5 hours. Back was a different matter: first of all this happens, closing the M40, then the combination of the resulting traffic, a few more people having much more minor accidents, and assorted roadworks at the M1/A414 exit, and stop-start on the M1 and M6 made things a bit tiresome:4.5 hours. Once again, there seemed to be no cause for the stop-start apart from people being dullards.
