The area we’re staying in is a modern development around a harbour: it’s quite nice for that, and I like it better than I’d expect. However, there’s a few problems, as detailed by the residents association newsletter that came through the letterbox. Unadopted roads and sewers, lack of maintenance, lack of facilities. One thing we noticed was a lack of signage: It’s easy to end up up a dead end because of this. I think there’s an aspect of the developers taking the money and running here, and the council don’t seem bothered enough.

Having said that, the layout is better for walking or cycling than some, and the barbourside is quite pleasant.
