Saddleworth

We’ve returned from a weekend in Delph, just outside Oldham. In one way it seems an odd place to go, but as you leave Oldham on the A62, the urban sprawl dissapears, and the moors begin- it’s like the flick of a switch.

Delph is a nice little village: just about big enough (Co-op convenience store, a few restaurants, 5 or 6 pubs) to have facilities and a bit of life, but small enough to feel like a village, and we were staying just outside the centre. We had several very nice meals, some good beer, and a nice walk or two (including the Huddersfield Narrow Canal– restored in 2001).
