Today’s walk went a bit further- I’m building back up, and we took a very hot walk to the canalside festival at Brownhills, had a wander up to The Swan for a cheeky couple, and then came back, pausing for a botulism burger at the festival, and a wander back down the Daw End Branch, avoiding the temptation to kick the shitbag scrote into the cut.

The best thing to do is just clip their bars and let them wobble themselves into the watery abyss. So I’m told.
I actually got one in the drink once – he chickened out before I did, then realised he had nowhere to go. I also often re-lock the disabled access gates with a RADAR key so the buggers can’t easily get out.

As a former shitbag scrote I used to ride my bike along the canal just to get to an area where I could ride off road. My interest in bikes kept me from mugging old ladies, underage drinking and teenage pregnancy. Off road riding also gave me a good teaching in mechanical skills which have served me well. I don’t condone people who cause a nuisance or ride stolen bikes, it gives a bad name for motorcyclists in general. What I am saying is that there seems to be less and less land available for people to enjoy off road riding which was once a common pastime. Not everyone can afford to, or even wants to join a club, but there seems to be no alternative anymore. If it wasn’t for having a bike at the age of 14 i would have probably ended up hanging around shopping centres getting into trouble like so many of today’s kids.

No, you weren’t a shitbag scrote. These lot were, trust me. In this case, down the towpath, with pedestrians about, at ~40mph, within inches of us, so these lot caused a nuisance. It’s a common theme on the towpaths, I’m afraid.
I don’t think there is an alternative to joining a club now. The idiots (often on stolen bikes, as you suggest) have spoiled it: it’s now illegal to ride bikes on most open spaces around here.
