I’m feeling a little under the weather, so I thought I’d take advantage of a grumpy frame of mind by doing what I’ve been meaning to do for a while, and contact my local councillors about the daft traffic calming that’s proposed around here. I decided to use email. The result:
3 returned emails.
1 incorrect address, so it would seem, and 2 “The recipient was unavailable to take delivery of the message”, which I think is Microsoft Exchange 5.5 telling me that the mailbox is over quota. Fantastic. Anyone want to tell me what the damn point is?
I suppose I’ll have to snail mail them.
Fire a copy off every day for about 10 days then go to his/her ‘surgery’ (who the hell came up with that description) and hand deliver a hard copy. At the same time point out that if they know as much about traffic calming as they do about computers, you may just be wasting your time.

We did a survey in our street and took he results to the local planning meetig saying stuff like it wasn’t democratic and we’ll fight you in the courts!
Did the trick. Mind you 95% were againast it and 10% of them were going to use physical measures to get their way. Well, that’s Willenhall for you!
