Yesterday, I went into my local Morrisons supermarket.Among other things I bought some ibuprofen tablets. I picked up 48 tablets- 3 packets of 16, to be precise, so that I don’t have to remember to buy them for a while, and so I have a packet to keep at work. I actually bought 32, because the checkout girl said she couldn’t sell 48 to me. This is, of course, correct, unless she wanted to break UK law.
Damn. Like I said, “I was just planning to top myself too”.
The thing is, if I was determined to kill myself with painkillers, I could just visit x supermarkets, or 1 x times, or visit 1 once, and use x checkouts,, obtain sufficient pills, and go home and do it. The only effect the law has is to make it very slightly more inconvenient to do so, and having reached that state of mind, I’d imagine the slight inconvenience wouldn’t deter anyone.
“Is that 2 carving knives in your basket? Sorry. we’re only allowed to sell you one at a time. It’s the law you know”.
Hey, you should have gone with Mary. You could have double the allowance. Well, it works with baccy at Dover anyway.
Slight problem: some of them were for her as she was at home with cold/headache. I wonder what they would have done if I went staright back in and bought more.

My mate did himself in with 16 paracetamol and 4 bottles of lager.
So, from what you say, it’s possible to legally buy enough to do yourself in anyway, but not possible to buy a decent amount to keep around *for headaches*.
Mind you, paracetamol is very nasty stuff to OD on, even accidentally.
